Adequate self catering apartments, close to restaurants, pubs and 15 min walk to the beach. No problems with maids, rooms cleaned and clean towels every 2 days. Pool clean and rooftop terrace was great for sunbathing. All in all good value for money.

Top Tip: New Iceland store very convenient only 5 mins walk away, ideal if you want to cook in apartment, including a cafe, bakery and butchers department.

This was my second visit to the Barranco. Quite a pretty, quaint little complex with basic rooms that were kept clean with daily maid visits, Towels were changed once as was the bed linen during the week we were there. Spiral staircase to upper bedroom and bathroom is a nice feature which my wife and I like but could cause problems with people who have mobility problems. The apartment is worth the money paid and the complex is quiet and secure despite having a great location where you have bars and restaurants on your doorstep. Only gripe is that the swimming pool is quite small (but pretty deep, shallow end is 1.65m/5'5" ).
Found that the electric socket in the bedroom was loose and did not work, this was reported in the morning and fixed the same day.
Managed to get sun loungers whenever we wanted one around the pool, but if you really do like to soak up the rays then the solarium on the roof may be better for you.
I would recommend hiring the room safe for peace of mind more than anything although we did not have any problems with anything being stolen despite leaving cameras, phones jewellery and euro coins around.

If you just want a clean, quiet room as a base that is close to the action then this is ideal. However if you are used to 4/5 star accommodation then look elsewhere. You basically get what you pay for and I would have no qualms about staying there again.

Top Tip: Many a good night had at the Chieftain Irish pub just over the road from the Barranco with Tommy Mahoney singing almost every night. Typical Irish sense of humour with some fruity language and no one escapes his mickey taking. If you are easily offended then steer clear but if you know what to expect and don't take anything personally you will have a great nite. Guiness is very good but pricey when compared to the local lagers but worth paying the extra money for. Also have to mention the La Karina restaurant which was always very welcoming to us and nothing too much trouble even when not going in until 11pm ish for a meal. They have a country and western singer called Little Joe who sings all the classics and adds to the very laid back atmosphere.
