May 7th -14th My husband and I (50's)stayed at The Tamaimo is a large complex with two excellent size pools and two childrens pools, although only 4 storeys high with a basement level which serves the pool and bar areas it has apparently only 3 lifts a central one serving reception and dining areas and the other floors and two others serving the other complex areas we visited in a fairly quiet time one wonders how the service would serve the height of the season there are also numerous steps within the floors.bars are available in both complexes but snacks were only available in one. We found all the staff friendly and the whole building was spotless with beautiful landscaped areas, the pools were excellent and cleaned twice daily. We were all inclusive and have had better interpertations in other hotels but food and drinks were plentiful of a fair standard considering the price we had paid. The Hotel is well placed for a walk into Los Gigantes beware it is hilly and lots of steps even to walk along the coastal prom there is a small beach both there and at Puerto Santiago of black volcanic sand. A very relaxing place to stay with a little entertainment for children but not excessive. Unfortunately we did have to share 4 of our 7 days with 300 school age basket ball players which markedly spoilt our holiday particularily at meal times and evenings with incessant shouting with no thought to the enjoyment of others despite management apologies for the inconvenience the adults responsible for them did nothing to control their behaviour!! might be worth checking with the hotel it is not a regular booking they have!if we had known we would have avoided staying there despite the comments we have made

Top Tip: worth the walk to los gigantes and the santiago harbour

Couldn't fault hotel. Very clean, good choice of food. Lots for kids to do. Would go back. Only negative thing to say is distance to travel to places I.e loro and Siam park but it was worth it.

The hotel was clean and well kept, had no issues with routine cleaning...we were on the 4th floor overlooking one of the two pools, of which one is primarily set up for kids and didnt experience any excessive noise...Food...we went all-In so ate in most of the time at their buffet style restaurant, the selection of food was quite varied from day to day and quite edible depending on personal taste... snacks can be had in between main mealtimes in the shape of hamburger and chips at a kiosk next to the 'kids' pool...Drinks are free flowing but a two drink max per person means plenty of trips to the bar, these drinks were supplied in small plastic vending cup, which I didnt find totally satisfactory..entertainment was virtually non existent apart from a kiddies disco in the evenings and some activities during the day which were vaguely advertised..Overall the hotel is value for money, you get what you pay for...staff are cheerful and helpful, we had no issues with the few requests we did make and they were attended to immediately...its the 2nd time we have been there in 6 months, so we were obviously satisfied with what the hotel offered, which for us was a base from which we could enjoy the rest of the area however far we ventured...or alternatively stay in sunbathing by the pool, but as I said, a cheap hotel, not flashy, but adequate for our needs, you'll find higher floors better for cockroach problems, I encountered one roach in the week that we were there, best just to ignore them, they'll hide when they see you coming anyway...if you're a regular traveller to these kind of climates you'll know that roaches are part of the environment, but the higher you get from ground level the less you find them..

Top Tip: theres a great bar round the corner from tamaimo called route 66 with a resident band playing most nights during the week which we enjoyed, there are also plenty of restaurants there as well with a varied choice of eats to be had if you fancy eating out for a change...the beaches are few and far between, albeit some hidden ones which require a short walk..just follow tourists and you'll soon discover them.
the area has some steep hills so be prepared to get a taxi if you are going further than a mile or two, they were reasonably cheap
