“ When we arrived at the hotel we were told the computer system was down and asked would we come back in an hour. We were quite happy to have a look at the town but there was no courtesy given, neither inviting us to sit down or offering us a drink. When we returned the computer system was up and we were then told that the hotel had overbooked and we had been transferred to a sister hotel, the zenith. There was no questioning this but we were given a free taxi to the zenith, a short distance away and told we could return to vincci lys hotel the following day. The following morning we were told to expect to have to stay at the zenith. We refused this and after a number of phone calls by staff this was accepted but we were refused the courtesy of a taxi. At the vincci lys it became clear why : the group booking that had taken our accommodation was still in place and after some conversation we were told we were being upgraded to a suite. This seemed to be seen as something we should have been grateful for. Later we spoke to the deputy manager and suggested that we should have the benefit of the cost of our night at the zenith refunded to us. This was we thought being considered for a further conversation but we then found dressing gowns and a bottle of cava in our room (missing the point that we had not come for or sought some such perception of luxury) and no one came back to us and of course with the limited time available to us we were past the point of spending any more of it in the hotel foyer.
