Tudanca Hotel

“ This hotel is rated as 3* and it is difficult to see how they justify this. We were traveling through Northern Spain and stayed at several hotels - this was by far the worst! After spending nearly 2 hours finding the place we eventually ended up at a garage way out in the wilds,with what can only be described as a motel tagged on. The website description states there are wonderful views. If you call a derelict wasteland overlooking a scrap yard and not far away, a power station belching out smoke,then this is true, but it was not to our liking. On entering the front entrance the interior smelt musty and the carpet from reception and all around the corridors looked as if it had been flood damaged. At best it was worn out and in bad need of replacement. The room was dark, in bad need of decoration, and sparsely furnished with 3 items of MFI type flat pack furniture which was damaged. The bathroom had none of the accutriments that our other 3* hotels provided, i.e.soap,shower gel,etc., and the two glasses supplied were 1) a whisky glass, and 2) a juice glass. There was also no plug to the wash basin. We had requested a no smoking room but there were cigarette burns on the bed covers, and the lower sheet was very thin. We both had a backache when getting up the next day due to a poor matress. We opted to have dinner that evening in the "motel" as it was in the back of beyond and we were ushered to an area with some bare tables when a paper tablecloth was rapidly applied. In fairness, the salad meal we had from the very poor selection was ok. We had paid for breakfast which we had to take in the public area where passing motorists had their snacks. This was also an insult! We were offered a stodgy piece of cake and a cup of coffee! The staff tried their best in very difficult circumstances but I would not recommend this dive to anyone. It is a run down motel at best, badly in need of renovation.
