Grand Beach Resort and Villas Krabi

“ We booked 10 nights in Centara in April 2010. On the arrival to the Nopparat Thara tier we were taken by boat to the resort . The resort is beautifuly located, in a secluded area and doesn't have permanent tier becasue it's in national park so this is first reason that it's not for children and older people, should be adult only. At the arrival we were a little dissapointed because the hotel was overcrowded, we hoped rather quieter place, later we were said that the hotel is booked in 100%. Since we arrived at 1.15pm and the check-in time was at 2pm we had to wait around 45 minutes for the room to be cleaned. So after that we were taken to our room by very polite receptionist. We booked premium deluxe ocean facing room but they offered us just ocean facing room with the building in front of our balcony which disrupt the view partly so I refused to take it. Next room provided had much better view but later it turned out that we paid even for better room, so after 4 days in that room we were given the room on 3rd fllor which has 180 degrees view over the ocean. The conclusion is the stuff doesn't have any idea about the difference between ocean facing and premium ocean facing, which is: deluxe ocean facing are on 2nd floor and has a balcony, premium are on 3rd flor and has a terrace. Generally ocean facing and premium rooms have the same size, they are very nicely decorated, with very nice bathroom and all facilities which you expect from 5 star hotel. The cleaning wasn't ideal, the cleaner focused on main areas but forgot eg about behind the beds where we found some dead bees.
Stuff is really nice, helpful and you can feel hospitality in a hotel.
As I said before hotel is located in a secluded area with beautiful gardens, it is a real paradise, but becasue of the location, garden ponds there is a lot of walk to get to your room, beach, breakfast, that's why it's not a place for older people or children, I saw once small boy fell into a small pond which fortunately ended up only with crying.
The hotel prices of food are at least 2 times bigger than in Ao Nang (neighbour village), one course dinner for 2 people 30£, small singha beer 3.2£, cola 2£. Quality of food is good, not worse and not better than in Ao Nang.
The only way to get to Ao nang is by free boat to Nopparat thara and then Tuk-tuk to Ao nang (40baht per person) or by direct boat from resort to Ao nang 150 baht per person or by monkey trail (15 minutes walk to ao nang centre) which is not suitable for small children and older people.
Reassuming this is a good hotel but should be adult only.
