Borderline 4* and certainly not a 5* as it was sold to us.
Only one indoor bar and that was in the corner of the combined reception/lounge area. Rather disappionting.
Pool areas were fine as were staff and service.
Accommodation was actually an appartment which was very nice.

Diar Lemdina Hotel

We are a family of four, two adults, a 14 year old boy and a 10 year old girl, we all had a fantastic time at these apartments. We were booked on a one bedroom bed & breakfast; Fantastic just about sums up the Staff/apartments/entertainment team/amenities. (We were upgraded to a two bedroom/Halfboard as they were not at full capacity when we were there.

We arrived late at 11.30pm, the 24hour reception dealt with us immediately, greeting us with a refreshing cocktail (most needed after the journey). When we got to the room, we had been supplied with bottled drinking water.

On the map, it may look like the apartments are some way from the beach, they are not, it is a 5 minute walk, you pass Joys Shop, where you can get everything clothes, gifts, food supplies, ice-creams, bread (8p) ideal for taking to the harbour to feed the fish & crabs.

There are three pools, two outside (freezing when we were there) and an indoor pool. We explored the grounds, but on our last day we discovered a further area. There is an underground area bar/conference centre/indoor play area/fish pond/dance area etc, which covers the whole site as above.

We had a problem with our fridge, this was sorted quickly and efficiently, with apologies. We found all the staff from the maids, security, bar, reception & entertainment staff to all go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Marwen and the girls from the entertainment team were great with the kids, they offer activities during the day and kids disco and shows in the evening.

The Buffett breakfast offered a good variety of foods for every taste, fresh cooked pancakes/omelettes, along with many other dishes, hot and cold. Again at dinner, the choices were great, chiefs cooking fresh on demand + many other dishes/salads etc.

We did find a great bar (out of the main doors, turn left pass a couple of restaurants and camels you will find THE STEAKHOUSE, the waiters all spoke very good English and had very good sense of humour, they have big TV’s and show the football – the food was lovely (A big T-bone steak approx. £8.00 – beer 2 dinars approx. 80p).

The currency you can get with your cash card at the airport or from reception (they have the same rate as the bank outside of the hotel).

One warning (nothing too bad) when you are walking outside, you will be approached by random young men claiming to be a waiter or cook from your hotel, they will offer to take you to their relations shop and get you discount). We found the best way to deal with them was to quash them, when asked ‘don’t you recognise me……’ we would jump in before them and say oh yes you are the waiter from my hotel..! it worked every time, also you will be asked if you have seen the ‘festival’ basically, a man or woman in the back of a shop making a rug (amazing) but you wouldn’t fit one in your cast to bring home.

At the beach you will find the water sports very reasonably priced, unfortunately we didn’t get to do any as it was quite windy and they wouldn’t take you up paragliding (reassuring).

We went on one excursion; the two day trip to see lots of different sites, very worth the money, you really get a good look at Tunisia, highlights of this trip camel ride in the Sahara and watching the sunrise over the salt lake, the 4x4 off road in the dunes was quite good too.

All in all, we had a great time and would recommend these apartments to anyone.

Top Tip: The Steakhouse...... Great Food/Great Value/Great Service...

Very Good

Definitely not a 5 star, more like a good 3 star. Having said that, the food was fresh and plentiful, the staff attentive and polite, and the apartments were spacious and had all the comforts of home.
The TV only had one rather grainy UK film channel available but it did keep us entertained in the evenings when we decided to stay in.
We went in early Feb and Yasmine Hammamet (the tourist area where the hotel is located) was very quiet. You get the usual hassle from the Souke traders and whilst haggling is fun at first, the constant 'in your face' antics of the market traders quickly wears very thin. Avoid any problems with a polite 'no thank you' and move on if you do not wish to buy anything.
Most Tunisians speak excellent French as this is their second language and most of the hotel staff speak reasonable English. The reception staff at this hotel were excellent.

Top Tip: Always tip, little and often. This reaps good rewards. For example, your dinner table will be prepared with your favourite tipple/drinks and the staff will go that extra mile to be helpful.
