“
This was never one of the best hotels in the area but with comfortable beds, constant hot water, a good shower, reasonable food and very nice staff, all situated opposite the lovely beach and within easy walking distance of the Medina, shops etc. it has proved more than adequate in the past. The tea at breakfast (Liptons Yellow Label) is excellent. Food generally is OK, particularly the beef, and even occasionally at the right temperature
This year, although the above good points are still evident, there is a more dispirited air, not helped by a lack of guests. There was, understandably, no entertainment, but it was the general lack of direction from the management which was most noticeable. We frequently had to ask for cups and plates to be replenished, which were then brought out in two or threes. The toilets were constantly out of paper (and sometimes lightbulbs) and despite reporting this there seemed to be no hurry to remedy the situation.
I will probably return if the price is right as I like the area and can cope with its foibles, but I would not recommend it to anyone visiting the Tunisia for the first time and not familiar with the country.
“ Top Tip: Nice little cafe and take-away called Sunrise not far away on the opposite side of the road to Tej Marhaba. Only been open a few weeks and owned by an English lady and her Algerian husband. If you want to see how the other half lives have a look at Movenpick, but be aware that a coffee and cake costs £7.50!!

“ The Hotel is a little tired. The price was right and although the rooms are basic they were regularly and thoroughly cleaned. There was a time when this hotel was bursting at the seams but in common with most other hotels in Tunisia this one was around 10 to 20% full. I came home on the day of the first democratic election in Tunisia and during my stay I did not see any problems.
“ Top Tip: The Fiesta Restaurant, out of the Hotel and turn right for 150 yards is well worth a visit.
