Kalkan, Dalaman, Turkey
Every few steps there is a grassy ledge with a couple of sun loungers. Find your private spot and let the Mediterranean sun and the sound of the waves sooth your body and soul.
From the beach platforms, which are carved into the rock, you can jump straight into the turquoise waters. If you prefer a pool, Kulube Hotel has one with saltwater and one with freshwater.
At Kulube Hotel you can enjoy the beautiful sea views from the privacy of your room or suite, from the restaurant terrace and pretty much everywhere else. The pool bar and the beach bar provide refreshing drinks and snacks.
And if all that isn’t enough for the perfect holiday, the hotel also has a wellness centre. It includes sauna, Turkish bath and massage room and offers a range of beauty treatments and therapies.
Kalkan is a small fishing town with a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches and some of the best diving in Turkey. There is also complimentary one-way shuttle service to Kalkan.

Having booked a standard room at a very cheap rate we did not expect anything special, working on the principal it was a place to sleep, use the bathroom and get changed. However the room we were allocated, 134,was not big enough to swing the proverbial cat around, the double wardrobe was infact at best a single as half of it contained a stone wall!! there were no drawers other than two in the wardrobe which were not really accessible due to the close proximity of beds and two tiny drawers in the dressing tables, the bathroom door would not close or lock. The shower cubicle leaked ( as did the toilet ) so the floor was permanately wet and and the shower had to be hand held as the wall mounting was broken.
Because of the above we decided to move and were offered the choice of a duplex ( the spiral stairs an accident waiting to happen!) and a deluxe room, although I would not describe it as such was clean and adequate, we opted for the latter at a cost of an extra £15 per night.
On the positive side the staff were in the main friendly and helpful ( but lacked leadership and direction, given the obvious problems around the hotel in general )
To summarise the kulube hotel is in desperate need of a serious refurbishment. Having stayed at numerous and varied properties around Kalkan this although could not be classed as a disaster is the worse we have stayed at, but in fairness the staff and the private beach/sunbathing platforms did make our holiday enjoyable, but at a different time of the season could be problamatic given the number of non residents using these facilities for free.
“ Top Tip: Go into Kalkan itself for the best choice of restaurants especially the Alternatif where Mustafa and his staff will serve you the best steak in town
Deborah from Cardiff
Hotel staff were delightful and more than helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent breakfast and lunches available at beach bar/hotel restaurant - very relaxing. All areas kept spotlessly clean - will certainly return to repeat the experience!
“ Top Tip: Gironda restaurant is a romantic experience but too many restaurants to cram into one week! Also a boat trip on Sea Bella with Captain Memmet is a must - a great way to relax and swim in the turquoise sea ...

“ Top Tip: Turkish bath is a must - highly recommend La Seria.

“ the kulube hotel was in a beautiful setting and the staff and service was excellant very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. the only little problem was the distance from kalkan town which was approx a 20-30 minute walk up and down steepish hills no problem for us as we love walking and are use to hills, however ther is a bus service into kalkan which is very handy and essential for lots of people. the resort has a lot of steps so not great for the lazy or infirm! the peace and quiet was just lovely and i would not hesitate to recommend this warm friendly and picturesque hotel.
“ Top Tip: best restruants in kalkan just so many to choose and we love top quality food which was easy to find in kalkan some of our favourites included trio, aubergine, kaptans, and close to the kulube was cafe vita who do an excellant barbaque amazing value and top quality food dont miss it !
