The very last week of the season, the weather was good but the Oludeniz and the Karbel were preparing for close down. The room was adequate but the shower cubicle was small (and family of 4 needs 2 rooms). Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels. TV has enough English language channnels to pass the time when it briefly rained and the main lobby has a wide screen TV showing football and mainstream UK programmes in the evenings. The pool was nice but markedly colder than the pleasant sea temperature at this time of the year. Sun loungers were plentiful. The breakfast was limited with a poor selection of cerial (cornflakes or....cornflakes...we presumed this was becuase it was the last week) but pancakes on one morning were a pleasant surprise as were the omlettes on the final morning (free...possibly in a bid to use up the eggs). Evening food was actually quite good and better than expected but desserts not up to much with sickly sweet moist cakes (still managed a few though). We were looking forward to tucking in to a bar of Cadbury's upon our return home. The hotel was good value for money but on a half board basis we found eating out at lunchtime in this tourist resort comparable with the UK and certainly not cheap. We will return to the resort next year same time but would opt for all inclusive which would not const much more. Would recommend the Karbel and despite a few reservations it was, on balance, good value for money.

Top Tip: Sad but true - Twister lollies for 1TL each and local 'cornetto' 1.25TL - absolute bargain! The lagoon is well worth a visit. Free shuttles or a cheap taxi fare and 6TL for a sunbed when there, but the beach of Oludeniz is glorious enough! Possibly an end of season characteristic but trips including boat trips and a guided coach trip to Fethiye market were great value for money - and make a B-line for Kaya, the Ghost town, and the lovely restaurant at the end of the road.

Our room was in block 9 at the rear of hotel which was very noisy with traffic & bin vans in the early hours of the morning.

Top Tip: Sugar Beach on the Blue Lagoon is beautiful. You can hire steamer loungers for the day & enjoy good value food / drinks. Also excellent cocktails with happy hour everyday from 3pm - 6pm.

Overall hotel was good but they could improve on the breakfast. It was the same fruit each day (melon & apples) and it was onlu cut bread could have done with small rolls etc. Also, eggs every day!!
Watch out as some balcony rooms on the ground floor are dull and in need of renovation. We were allocated one on arrival but managed to get a move on the 3rd day into a second floor room which was much better and more modern.

Top Tip: Restaurant in Blue Star Hotel and the Secret Garden was very good. Also would highly recommend the 'Talk of the Town' show up in Hisaronu.

The Karbel is a lovely hotel that is always clean/tidy where the maids work very hard. I have only stayed in September so it is always quieter as there are never many kids staying as back to school. The half board option is cheap enough but not wonderful so would stay B + B as lots of places to eat at. The staff work very hard long hours sometimes they may come across as rude but it is just the way they are we have always found them helpful and this year they greeted us as if we were friends as they remembered us from last year.

Top Tip: Lots of lovely places to eat but the best in our opinion Toscana's, The Secret Garden and Captain Hook's
