This hotel should not be rated 5 star, I would rate it 3-4 star. The staff are poorly trained in customer relations and barely speak English...some are downright rude, The food is sub-standard in terms of quality, quantity and presentation apart from the small a la carte Italian restaurant which was open when we stayed and was of a vastly superior quality to that served in the main buffet restaurant......none of the other a la cartes were avaialble. Our room was lovely, very spacious with a large glass fronted balcony and plenty storage, though we paid extra for this. The common areas are totally inadequate for the number of rooms (475), there is one moderately sized bar and lobby and nowhere to have a quiet drink in the evening. All the entertainment is held in the bar when it rains or is cold, kid's disco, rep meetings, disco and live music....everything. The hotel has doubled the number of rooms since it's previous incarnation as the Taksim Palace and no provisions have yet been made to increase the facilities. The pool and beach are lovely and there were plenty sunbeds, although I think they would be heavily over-subscibed in the high season as it was relatively quiet when we stayed. Nasty place, not classy and certainly not a hotel I would recommend to anyone.

Top Tip: Stay somewhere else

I and my husband stayed in the hotel 9-16 September ‘11. We had spectacular room on top floor with balcony -sea view and main pool. Facilities –restaurants, pool, beech, pier, food variety & 24 lobby bar where amazing. Spa, shops, doctor & etc. 5* can’t fault any of it. Really friendly and organized Animation team –haven’t missed a single show and actually performed in one. Water polo was really good laugh to watch and seem to bring guests together same with pool games. Lots to do for single or people of any age groups. Just have time and the energy to do the things that are there!
Special thank you to Lobby bar waiter –Abdurraman Idim who is working night shifts and was looking after us –made us lots of cocktails and went an extra mile to make a lot of guests feel special. He seems to be the one who meats people after they just check in the hotel late night. He deserves more than a tip- I hope hotel will be looking after him as he has only been there 2months.
Animation Team was very good as well and made people laugh and entertained guests 24/7. They are working really hard and their shows where really good if you take in consideration that they are not professionals, very good sketches-laughed ours socks off!!
We had such a good time we are planning a return trip already with more family and friends!!! Loved it!! Will be definitely back- hope animation team still there!

Top Tip: Don't waste your money on taxi to go to Side or Mangavat- there are a lof of buses that can take you there for 1 euro one way! Just outside the hotel + negotiate all your purchases!1

Check-in date:

This hotel had predominantly german, turkish & scandinavian guests. It doesnt cater for english guests at all. Indeed when we stayed 1-10 Jul 2011, we were 1 of only 2 english couples out of approx 1000 guests. The staff can't speak english & generally the resort does not cater for English couples. The food was incredible, but mealtimes in the buffet was like feeding time at the zoo, hectic, barging, pushing, rude, rude people who you would think had never seen food before, which is a shame because the food is fantastic & almost wasted in a 'fast food' restaurant environment. I would recommend to the hotel that it designated an adults only eating area in the buffet & that the lobby bar was adults only after 9pm. Fantastic location, sunbathing on the jetty is wonderful & turtles can be seen swimming by daily. Just a shame that the 'european culture' - reserving of sunbeds at 7am, not one free by 9am & the lack of manners & courtesy overshone what could be a splendid holiday destination.

Top Tip: A trip into old & new Side is recommended. Dont pay more than 18-20 lirs for a taxi there though!

Excellent food. We were the only English. Staff were good & nearly all could speak a good standard of English. Entertainment mainly for Germans.
