The West Grange did not justify its 4* rating, the rooms being small, beds narrow and bathrooms inadequate, particularly the feeble showers. The cathode ray TV's in the rooms were unreliable. Restaurant prices were double what would be considered reasonable, as shown by the paucity of guests, many of whom were eating at the adjacent Berhshire Arms "Chef and Brewer"
