Chris and Jenny Mullen would like to welcome you to Cairn Bay Lodge a guesthouse for the discerning traveler set in extensive gardens with panoramic views of Ballyholme Bay and Ballymacormick Point Built in 1914 for Belfast City Councellor William Tyrell The Cairn is a detached seaside villa with classic oak panelling Dutch fireplaces and wonderful stained glass. His son Air Vice Marshall Sir William Tyrell was surgeon to the Queen Mother and the present day Queen. So proud of the fact that his son held such an illustrious position William Senior had balconies built at both the front and rear of the house in anticipation of a Royal Visit. Sadly much to his appointment this never materialised. Now it is home to Chris and Jenny Mullen and daughter Poppy and guests from all over the world. Good hospitality and relaxation are on offer. Jenny is a trained Beauty Therapist with a salon on the premises and and Chris is in charge of the kitchen with breakfast being his speciality. Help yourself to County Armagh apple juice seasonal fruits home-made soda bread wheaten bread and yoghurt followed by one of the daily specials such as Baked Irish Goat's Cheese local oak smoked salmon omelette or Traditional Ulster Grill.
The front rooms look out directly over the bay and beyond whilst others look out over the gardens to the rear. Modern convenience free wireless internet access fridges DVD library flatscreen televisions and iPod docks and Voya Spa Products plus personal service make it a stay to remember. All rooms are furnished to the highest standard mixing old world charm with modern convenience.
Guest lounge with stunning views over the bay and Ballymacormick Point where guests can relax with a cup of tea and browse from our extensive range of reading material or avail of wireless internet. There is a gift shop selling an extensive range of local produce: linen Voya products vintage postcards local art and photography. On leaving George Best City Airport turn left onto the A2 dualcarriageway-this brings you directly into Bangor town centre and Main Street.Go to the lights at the bottom of Main Street-get in the left hand lane but go straight on through the junction passing the Royal and Marine Court Hotels on the right.This brings you directly into Seacliff Road-keep going until you reach Ballyholme Yacht Club and we are approximately 100 metres further along on the right overlooking Ballyholme Park.;
