“ The Hotel has a wonderful location right in the heart of Exeter and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We decided to book one of the better "Desireable" rooms for our weekend away and have to say were quite disappointed with what we received. Although the room was a good size the overall impression and feel was dull and tired. We had the air conditioning units for the hotel outside our window and the only view was on to the back of another building.
This was not a cheap room and it left us disappointed with what we had received and we certainly didn't feel it was value for money.

“ Top Tip: We found a great restaurant within about a 10 minute walk from the hotel called "The Conservatory", excellent food and atmosphere.

“ The staff were extremely helpful during our stay and we enjoyed an outstanding meal in the restaurant. The room was well-appointed and the beds were very comfortable.

“ We have stayed at the Royal Clarence before and thoroughly enjoyed it with a lovely room and comfortable bed. However, that must have been a higher grade room because the first room no. 104 they put us in was small and depressing with a noisey lane below the window and a view of a brick wall right outside our window. They did move us for the 2nd night to a better room but it was very average and the bed had a big hollow in it. I doubt we will stay there again unless guaranteed a better room. The breakfast was excellent.
