Check-in date:

The room was basic, but fine and provision was made for an early breakfast on our first day which was helpful.
Unfortunately there were no staff at all at breakfast on either day, neither in the restaurant nor on Reception which seemed a little odd, especially as the restauant was not that easy to find if, like us, you were staying in the lodges. The tea (in flasks) was not that hot and tasted stewed and the fried eggs quickly ran out with no one to ask for replacements, although in all fairness there was other food available on the hot buffet, so perhaps I am being picky.

Check-in date:

A bit off the beaten track and no taxis at the railway station.
Accommodation modern and a friendly welcome. My single room was small but en suite and had all facilities required. Excellent cuisine at dinner with buffet breakfast very enjoyable.Beautiful historical main building but my room was a lodge just a few minutes walk in the grounds - quiet and secure.

Top Tip: The hotel is set in lovely woodland - beware of the owls which hoot hauntingly! Lots of other wildlife to watch out for, including woodpeckers.
