Red Lion Hotel

Difficult to locate entrance, due to one way system.

“ The hotel was easy to find and had plenty of on-site free parking. The reception staff were friendly and we went to our room on the 3rd (top) floor which was in the old part of the hotel. It was a big room looking out over the roof tops. The bed linen was clean and the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. There was a bath and shower over and the water was very hot although the cold water was brown (rusty). There was a large wardrobe with spare pillows and blanket. We were going to a concert in town later and were directed by the reception person and asked whether we wanted to eat in the restaurant and book a table. We declined only because we were going to go to the shopping centre first and eat there. When we came back from the concert we ordered two hot drinks from the bar but were a little annoyed we had to wait about 15mins for them to come because there was no milk!
Breakfast was perfectly fine, help yourself to cereals, fruits and yoghurt, fried items and rolls, pastries with toast on order. Excellent!
All in all if you want to stop right in Basingstoke for a night it's a reallly good place.
