A very tired and run down Pub/Hotel. Room was extremely small, windows very drafty (no double glazing). Bathroom very basic with a shower that did not work particularly well, a trickle of water that fluctuated from freezing cold to boiling hot. Bedroom door did not lock. Breakfast was not inclusive of room charge.
All in all, very disappointing.

“ Hotel was quite nice but tired looking, could do with a bit of TLC. Room was okay, bed was clean but they need to change their cleaner as the bathroom was grubby and toilet bowl needed some bleach down it and the window frame was dusty and dirty. I had an urge to wipe it but stopped myself! I just stayed for one night with my husband before running the Great South Run on Sunday morning. The room was a reasonable price at £60 a night we knew this didn't include breakfast but did ask for an early breakfast but they couldn't do it but wasn't a problem as we came prepared. Emsworth was a nice village with the station only 10 minutes walk away, easy to get to Portsmouth harbour. All in all we would consider staying again for just one night. Regards Janice Page

No lighting on stairs or in room on first day/evening which was remedied. Guests informed at breakfast on first morning that breakfast not included as website had not been changed to reflect this. Cleanliness needs addressing as thick with dust on back of doors in toilets, public toilet bowl stained, lack of fresh bed linen/towel changes, or anyone making the bed. Despite informing staff of low/no hand wash, not replenished for 3 days!
On a positive note, food was excellent, tasty and plentiful. Staff were friendly and welcoming
“ Top Tip: Heidi's Pattisserie/cafe. Excellent service, tasty food and plentiful cream teas! Nothing too much trouble for the friendly, courteous staff

“ As has been stated before in reviews, although we booked Bed AND Breakfast, the breakfast was NOT included as it was "under new management". The poor girl who was left to tell everyone at breakfast this was very embarrassed and under a lot of stress. The staff are lovely and helpful and the dinner was great. Bed quite uncomfortable and lumpy though.
“ Top Tip: Quite a few restaurants nearby
