A Charming Country House Hotel offering luxury accommodation, prominently situated on the Common within this delightful village, famously known as 'Aidensfield' in the popular TV series 'Heartbeat'. The Hotel is ideally situated, being only a short 10 minute drive from the coastal towns of Whitby and the old market town of Pickering. The city of York, with all its history is a 45 minute drive. The North Yorkshire Moors steam railway also stops in the village.
The Mallyan Spout is a 19th-century country house hotel set within picturesque gardens with views across the Esk valley. Visit the 70 foot high Mallyan Spout waterfall, which flows into a wooded valley a short walk from the hotel.
All of the modern, individually decorated rooms at The Mallyan Spout have en suite bathrooms and views of the hotel gardens, the village church, or the Esk Valley. All rooms also feature flat-screen TVs, hairdryers, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
Dining at The Mallyan Spout is provided with fresh, locally-sourced produce and Whitby fish, served either in the dining room with its varied á la carte menu, or the more informal bar area. Three lounges with log burners are also available for guests to relax in.

“ Had a fabulous stay at the Mallyan Spout. Great location for walking and getting away from it all. Would definitely go again.
“ Top Tip: Fabulous walks - very hilly - walk down the path at the side of the hotel, turn right and walk about 1 mile up and down to a very old fashioned pub in the next village - then walk up along the old railway line back to Goathland - dont bother calling into the Goathland Hotel - it was very unfriendly and the staff were patronising! Instead head back to the Mallyan Spout for lovely sandwiches and drinks.

A nice hotel with pleasant attentive staff. Ideal if you want a peaceful location with loads of walking in the near locality. Also very handy for access to the North Yorks Moors Railway (preserved line).
The hotel restaurant is very good, not cheap but you get what you pay for. Bar meals are also available and are very good value for money.
“ Top Tip: Try a meal on the NYMR special trains. Lunchtime Sundays or evenings on Saturdays, you will probably need to book well in advance, but it is well worth it.
