“ The hotel room was very basic as we expected but there were cobwebs on the ceiling and dust on the walls.At 7am till 8 am there was a loud squealing noise,source not known.We could have chosen a better hotel/guest house for the same price if not cheaper.We were dissapointed with hotel and shall never return.M Rushforth.

We arrrived at the hotel 2:55pm and were told that they cannot book us into the hotel as the system only allows them to enter at 3:00pm.
After waiting for the 5 minutes we then were told they cannot book us in as we did not have our superbreak vouchers. They were very unhelpfull and then said we had to find an internet cafe to print the vouchers.
At the end we phoned travel republic our selfs (who were very helpfull and very friendly) and they then spoke to the hotel receptionist who then had no problem booking us in, but had a problem to think of a solution herself. After all the drama they then said if we need anything to just ask.
And we did.... we asked for shampoo and was told it is a no star hotel, so no shampoo. Really really bad service.
They have no customer service facing skills and no knowledge of their immediate enviroment.

“ Average hotel. Luke warm breakfast with little choice of food. No offer of coffee being topped up or toast being made. No shower cap etc in bathroom. Good location and clean room.

“ Breakfast as always with the Hilton was excellent, unfortunately we had booked a twin room ....ROOM 106 - to be avoided at all costs .... noise in room/cupboard next door - or the roller shutters for the car park kept us awake most of the night.

This two star family owned city centre hotel comprises a collection of six listed buildings around a courtyard setting. The oldest building (pictured) dates from 1659. Situated on Skeldergate the ancient Roman waterfront that now leads from the city walls across the river to the historic city. The convenient location combined with the hotels scenic setting is ideal for exploring York and the surrounding area. The railway station and all major attractions are within easy walking distance. The University and other business areas are also easily accessible from the hotel. “ Friendly staff, good breakfast (buffet fry up) heated pool was great and very close to york centre. If i was being really picky the only drawback was the changing room for the pool or gym as it is a distance away. Would go back anytime i'm in York.
