Oxford Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel

“ Friendly and efficient staff. Comfortable bed and good food. Though we are talking about identical rooms for all with no particular character, everything is clean and works well. So this is a hotel I could happily stay in for longer than the two nights we stayed.

“ Ideal location, comfortable and friendly staff; just what we wanted.

“ The location of the hotel was very convenient, but more Hotel signs in the vicinity would help to make finding it easier and less confusing as the Hotel is positioned near a commercial area.

On arrival the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We stayed for just 1 night and the room was comfortable and provided all basic needs, although the decor in the inner hallway and in the room was a little drab. We did not have time to use all of the amenities provided at the hotel, so cannot give an opinion on those.

On the upside there was quite a nice comfortable lounge/bar area and restaurant, which led out to a very pleasant courtyard garden and seating area.

Breakfast was self-service and good with plenty of choices both Continental and cooked, which was replenished all the time. However you would be advised to take breakfast early as it could probably get very busy with people eating at peak times.

Finally, it would be nice if "no smoking" signs were put up at the Hotel entrance to deter guests from smoking in this area leading into the foyer, as it did not give a good impression on arrival and quite unpleasant to walk past. More importantly the smoke drifted through the open hotel bedroom windows nearby on the ground floor.
