Very Good

“ A well presented hotel that has been cleverly converted from it's former prison glory. The staff at reception were very welcoming, the room was immaculate although rather small (and i'm informed the actual premium "cell" rooms are even smaller!) The restaurant was very busy at breakfast and in quite a small dining room for the number of guests using it.
“ Top Tip: The shops are fantastically near by and if you walk down george street you will find all the lovely restaurants and bars including a jamie oliver italian.

Superb hotel in great location. Hotel has own bar and restaurant but both very expensive. The room itself was small but cosy and well maintained. The en-suite bathroom was lovely with plenty of hot water and toiletries.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and provided a map of the local area with lots of information re places to visit etc.
My husband and I went to Oxford for a short break and I would definately book this hotel again.
“
Top Tip:
"Prezzo" restaurant literally next to hotel. Great food at reasonable prices but make sure you book a table.
You must visit the Oxford Castle ! Almost 1000 years of history to discover.
Excellent shopping facilities - don't forget your cash/cards.
Make sure you include breakfast with your hotel booking as this could be an expensive extra on your checkout bill.

This is the second time we have stayed at Malmaison Oxford and have enjoyed both times very much. From arrival the receptionists were very polite and professional, our room was very stylish, immaculately clean, but as we had booked the breakfast we missed out on the ‘free cocktail’ when you book the breakfast in the reception, never mind, we had been to the cocktail lounge before and loved it.
Negative points? The hotel and staff were so good that the only negative thing we can think of (and mentioning it seems so very petty, but you did ask) is that my partner could not get any good strong light to apply her makeup in the room 501 and her poached egg at breakfast was not runny in the middle.
Our overall enjoyment was 9 out of 10, we will definitely visit again.
We tried to book 2 nights but the hotel was full on Thursday 15th.
“
Top Tip:
Try a drink at the restaurant on the roof terrace fo the Ashmolean Museum.
Watching cricket in the University Park.

“ The carpet in the hotel corridors smelled as though they hadn't been cleaned in years. The 'premium' rooms were much smaller than expected. This hotel clearly caters to the elderly as we were the only clientele younger than 60. For this reason, the staff felt they could be rude and threaten to kick us out just for talking late at night. Would NOT recommend or revisit.

The Eastgate Hotel was originally a 17th Century Coaching Inn but over recent years it has been renovated whilst remaining in keeping with the mellow architecture of the city. Being centrally located on the corner of High Street and Merton Street it is an ideal base to explore this historical city. Most colleges are within walking distance but Magdalen Merton and Queen's Colleges are all neighbours. The 62 en-suite bedrooms offer all the comforts you would expect with satellite television modem access points iron and ironing board and teacoffee making facilities in all rooms. A proportion of bedrooms are suitable for families with sofa beds which pull down to create a comfortable third bed. Cots and baby facilities can be provided please ask at the time of booking. Oxford students have quite taken to the hotel's facilities. The lively Mertons Bar is situated on the ground floor of the hotel serving coffee and tea.
“ Comfrortable and convenient close to the centre of Oxford. Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms on the third floor are only accessible by stairs from the second floor and so would not be suitable for someone who was not able-bodied.
