Three Tuns Motel

Ongoing refurbishment of this 200 year old coaching Inn.

The Three Tuns is an 18th century coaching Inn set in the midst of rural Suffolk in the village of Pettistree close to the east coast and the beautiful market town of Woodridge. The city of Ipswich is also only a short drive away.The main building dates back to the 1800s and holds many original features and the bar has a classic feel in the traditional English style. Our main restaurant gives an airy ambiance giving this area a real country feel, you can also enjoy a full hearty English breafast which is included in your stay with us.

Within the village of Pettistree a short walk into the countryside and open farmland this is the perfect place for quiet getaways or adventure further afield. Wickham market is only a short walk away and activities such as water sports, horse riding, photography and bird watching can be enjoyed.

The Three Tuns dates back to a Victorian era however history states that there has been a hostelry of some kind since the mid 17th century. There was also a garage which sold petrol to the coaches in the early 1900's.

Visitors of note include Jean Batten the aviator who made her record flight from Australia to England in 5 days, 18 hours and fifteen minutes, and also the American boys from WW11 and the neighbouring airfield adopted the inn as a favourite meeeting place.
