It was good to stay at a hotel where you can walk to other restaurants, this is not always the case with five stars in the Middle East.
The french restaurant was superb, the chef took the trouble to come and speak to us
after the meal.
We visited other five star hotels in down town Abu Dhabi but were so pleased we
chose the Shangri La. You feel you are coming back to somewhere special with
a bit of peace and tranquility and with taxi fares very reasonable it was a good
choice.

Top Tip:
The Indian Restaurant in the souk adjacent to the hotel is excellent, No 1 on trip advisor is well deserved.
The open top bus tour is well worth doing.

I can't speak highly enough of this hotel. We stayed there for one week from Easter weekend and absolutely loved it. Rooms were great, service very good and the hotel facilities were just brilliant. The breakfast was not the best we have had, but certainly had plenty of options and was better than most hotels. All of the food was good quality throughout our stay including lunch and dinner when we ate there. Also, and most suprising, was the fact that the food and drink was actually quite reasonable. For example a panini by the pool was around £5!!
The adjoining Souk adds around 8 extra restaurants which are all good quality as well as some good bars. This really adds another dimension to the hotel, and makes the location much better.
We visited the Emirates palace for afternoon tea, which is supposedly 7 star, and we actually couldn't wait to get back to the Shangri-la, it really is that good!! We also visited the Yas hotel and do not stay there - cheap plastic looking all the way through, just terrible!!
The only slight thing to improve on would be to have more carts going to the souk as we had to wait a few minutes sometimes.
Other than that, just stay here. We will be returning one day I hope.

Next door to the Hotel in the Souk Market there is a great Indian Restaurant,
its the only Indian there and its on the lower floor called somthing like Urmsi the best Indian i've had, Five Stars and i will go again.

“ The hotel has a small artificial beach front and several pools all with excellent service. The restaurants are fabulous, Bord Eau in particular. More restaurants and bars are also found at the souk, between the Shangri La and Traders hotels. A short taxi ride will take you to the Corniche and shopping malls. An excellent choice for a relaxing stay in Abu Dhabi.
