Craigellachie Hotel

“ Nestled in the highlands of Scotland, on the river Spey just outside Aberlour you have the Craigellachie Hotel. Built in the 1890's it offers you a taste of the elegance of the Victorian era.

With excellent access to a vast number of distilleries the Craigellachie Hotel can be your home from home :-).

Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff and given our room.
I have not eaten dinner at the restaurant, though breakfast was a typical Scottish style unfortunately without Haggis, I love haggis.

The bar is full of Whiskey (750), so you could tour all the distilleries from the comfort of a cosy bar and know you would still be able to make it back to your bed.


Our room had an excellent view over the Spey, it was spacious and warm. Bed was comfy and the shower had lots of pressure.

There are many rooms to be used if the Bar or pub is full, personally I liked the drawing room, mostly we had that to ourselves.

“ Top Tip: The Highlander Inn, for bar food was good. Even more Whisky, try the Japanese whiskies.

“ A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Our only - minor - gripe is that our room was on the ground floor, with cars parked in touching distance outside the window. With such magnificent views from the floors above, it was a bit disappointing to have a close-up view of a VW Polo!

The room itself was excellent, couldn't fault it.

“ Top Tip: The Highlander Inn, with a huge range of whiskeys, 2 - 3 real ales, and meals/bar snacks, is about 100 metres away.

“ This is a perfect location for a romantic getaway or equally for a family weekend. Near an old railway track for long walks or cycles along the river, close to an extensive array of distillery's for the whisky lover and lots of quaint welcoming villages. The meal was amazing and was a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

“ Top Tip: There are numerous lovely restaurants and tea shops around serving amazing home cooked food and cakes. Just a short walk away from the hotel is the river where there is a hidden beach, very romantic and peaceful. Lots of lovely walks nearby and amazing scenery.

“ Friendly and welcoming staff. Food good.
