Durn House is located in a quiet backwater in the picturesque coastal fishing village of Portsoy on the MorayBanffshire Coast. Durn House was built in 1770 and is an elegant Georgian Mansion House with historical links to the Battle of Culloden still retaining original architecture including plaster work a stunning stone spiral staircase huge open fires plus furnishings with luxury fabrics and antiques. All 6 guest suites are in a quiet location overlooking the grounds with luxury bathrooms access to a large private guest lounge as well as several reception rooms. Breakfasts are served with personal attention with home made preserves bread fresh local produce and the special 'Durn House smoked Kippers'. Durn House guests are offered a relaxed haven in easy distance of local attractions Caste Trail Whisky Trail Cairngorm National Park as well as the numerous beaches fishing villages and stunning scenery. “ Our room had recently been refurbished and was lovely, however others in our party were less lucky and agreed that the rooms they had were without a doubt requiring upgrading. They were dissapointed as they had paid the same room rate as we had. Staff were all very helpful.

The hotel offers a choice of accommodation. The spacious family bedrooms can accommodate a family of four adults or those with bigger families the suite can accommodate 5 adults. Ideal for golf and fishing parties. Alternatively there is a four bedroom house in the hotel gardens. This can be rented either as self catering or B and B. Off season we welcome enquiries for long stay guests. Special rates apply. Smoking not permitted in bedrooms or house.
“ The hotel has a homely and old fashioned feel. The receptionist was very welcoming. I stayed for 1 night with my daughter, age 10. We had a lovely (old fashioned) room with the windows to the front.
