A lovely well presented hotel, next door to the Mailbox and a 5 min walk to the bars on Broad Street. The only let down was our room 332 had a small bed, definately not a double and was set up for disabled guests with lots of emergency cord alarms in the room and bathroom. The bathroom had a raised toilet seat and a lowered sink, not the most romantic for our 25th anniversary so it was very disappointing.
The breakfast was one of the best I have eaten although it can get very busy at weekends, to be expected. The staff were very friendly. I would return but would ask for a higher floor and a less clinical bathroom.
Paid £80 for 2 with breakfast so not a bad price.
“ Top Tip: level 2 for parking underneath the hotel brings you out right by the entrance, £13.50 for 24 hours.

We stayed in the Crowne Plaza for 2 nights between 27-29 April 2012. When we arrived we were allocated an adjoining room which was terrible as you could hear the people's conversations in the room next door word for word.
On the second night, a stag party checked in and were allocated rooms that surrounded ours on all sides. They were drinking heavily from 4 o'clock in the afternoon, kept banging on our adjoining door and turned really abusive. After several calls to the reception, the duty manager agreed to move us on to a separate floor which was better (apart from people from the stag party running up and down the corridor, banging on doors at 4 o'clock in the morning).
I strongly felt that it should have been the people being loud, disruptive and abusive that were moved as we had the inconvenience of packing up all our stuff and moving rooms but the manager wasn’t willing to do this. Obviously if the hotel had allocated them rooms together in the first place this wouldn’t have been an issue.
To be honest I expected a lot more from the hotel. It was modern and clean, however our bath leaked which left a lake in our bathroom every time it was used and the way they allocate their rooms leaves a lot to be desired. I was also disappointed at breakfast when I was told I would have to pay £3.90 for a latte. The location of the hotel was great but after the experience we had, we wouldn't return.
To top it off, the car park run by Britannia parking below the hotel was cheap (£13.50) per 24 hrs providing you don't take you car out during that time but the security was poor and someone stole the front grills from our car!
All in all we had a terrible experience in this hotel and while I acknowledge on a different weekend it could be completely different we won’t be returning and expected a lot more from a Crowne Plaza.
