“ This hotel had everything we required for our stay, walking distance to the center of Birmingham only 20mins stroll. Clean, spacious well lit rooms. Lovely breakfast and friendly staff. We shall certainly be staying here again as the price was very good value for the quality. Excellent location without being noisy.

room Rate was good but the hotel was awfully tired and in great need of modernisation. Having an orange bathroom suite with chocolate brown decor was really a 1970's dream.
Breakfast was good.

We loved the history and upkeep of the hotel, the courtesy and helpfulness of all the staff. The bedroom (whilst old) had everything you needed to enjoy a pleasant and comfortable stay. The evening bar snack and breakfast were very good.
We'd certainly revisit this hotel if in the area.

This hotel needs total refurbishment in all public spaces and, if my room was typical, every bedroom and bathroom. It clearly has not been touched since the 1960's and staying in a hotel with peeling wallpaper, holes in walls and panels, etc is not a pleasant experience.
When I arrived I found the bar overrun with a fancy dress party and was told the dining room was closed to cater for this party. Room service was the only option to a fairly long walk to the nearest restaurants along an unpleasant dual carriageway.
Later, I found my room to be too hot and the temperature controller did not work; in the morning my room had two electrical power cuts. This was clearly an expected problem because the receptionist was able to restore power in a matter of minutes in both cases but why allow this to happen?
Not a hotel to recommend!
