“ Superb hotel, everyone was very friendly and bent over backwards for us. We went on a special offer 2 nights and evening meal deal so were thinking we would be treated slightly differently, but were not. The Hotel was very "Grand" the meal was gorgeous, the breakfast was sumptious and lots of it! The room was large with a super kingsize bed that could have fit 4! It was right on the beach and within 1 minutes walk from the Lanes. The parking was expensive £25 per day but we had a Landrover that would not fit in the NCP car park, (just behind the hotel) and it was safe and secure!
“ Top Tip: Fiddlers Elbow Irish Bar just around the corner.

“ Many of the bedrooms have frosted windows as they overlook an internal space. The rooms themselves are all right but they feel a little oppressive as a result. We asked for, and got, a room with a normal (non-sea) view and this was fine. The public rooms are good.

“ Were initially allocated very small room although they offered to change it to a larger one, for no extra cost. In the end we paid to upgrade. Hotel room very warm, even without radiators on. Heard other guests say the same. Breakfast very good!

“ We were expecting the Grand Hotel in Brighton to be grand in that elegant old English shabby-chic kind of way, bit it's more grubby 1980's Laura Ashley style. Our particular room was overlooking a light-well with boarded up window across. Our own window would only open an inch. The rooms are over filled with ugly furniture, the maid cleaning was particularly shoddy. Ordered a Sunday newspaper which didn't arrive. Most of the staff at the Grand seem to be foreign language students practicing their English, rather than professional staff. This didn't feel like an elegant or well run hotel and seems to be living of its reputation. If you want an smart hotel in Brighton, check out the Hotel du Vin down the road.
“ Top Tip: The Hotel du Vin!
