“ Booked for our 6 years anniversary and was planning to visit cambridge and then enjoy a quiet evening meal at hotel and swimming pool. The hotel was a 10 minute drive from cambridge so quite a good distance and on arrival was a little bit disappointed with the appearance of the hotel, looked a little like an upmarket travel lodge but once inside was much smarter and the girls at reception were friendly and helpful. We got to our room by passing a corrider where a tray with leftover breakfast was in the hall and had flies on it (5pm in the afternoon and was still there when we went to bed at 11pm that night!) Our room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom although small was clean with fresh towel and nice powerful shower. We had a meal in the hotel restaurant and waited for well over half an hour for it, it was minute steak and chips !!!!! Breakfast was a good fry up but pastries were limited and we had to remind the waiter that we still at had not had our tea or coffee at the end of our breakfast. I think they need a better system for food service as no one seems to know what t hey are doing except the head guy there who was really doing his best. Swimming pool was lovely and towels provided. Overall I would recommend staying at the hotel but not having a meal there.

“ The room, adminstration and food were all satisfactory but the management of the restaurant was chaotic. There seemed to be no organisation, order taking was recorded wrongly twice and several waiters approached us asking for orders when our order had already been taken. Breakfast was nothing short of a disaster.

“ Top Tip: Eat anywhere other than in the hotel restaurant.

“ After an initial mix up with booking (internet site had not passed the booking through in time) all was fine. Very helpful staff, very nice breakfast, v good value.

“ Top Tip: Giant Xtra Tesco right next door
