The first impression you get as you come through the main entrance is one of elegance and style. The second is one of warmth and personal attention. Every bedroom with its own distinctive style surrounds you in traditional luxury yet provides each guest with the facilities of a modern hotel. Furthermore special rates are available at the Greens Health and Fitness Club. The hotel has parking for a limited number of cars which is available on a first come first served basis. Parking is on a self park basis charged ay £16.00 per day. Once our car park is full alternative parking is available at the Queen Anne car park which is situated on Gonville Place postal code CB1 1ND.

We have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions. On this visit we were charged £16 per night for car parking which has not been the case when booking in the past through another web site. Also the extra charge was not made clear when booking.
However the staff are mostly very helpful indeed.
In the evening we dined at the hotel as always at least once, however the food was not up to the usual standard.
We have become fond of the University Arms and will continue to return.
They are great with the dogs too, which makes life there even more pleasant.

“ Excellent location, very good staff, afternoon teas can be recommended in the comfortable bar watching the world go by. very English. Rooms are comfortable but dated, is definitely ready for a refurb at the prices charged.
“ Top Tip: try the traditional chinese dim sum lunch directly across road at Charlie Chans, it is a Cambridge institution.

Room 136 far too hot, ceiling stained from an old water leak, bathroom floor tile cracked and completely loose, water from shower leaked through shower screen seal all over the floor, drenching the clothes prepared for the day which had to be on the floor as there was nowhere else to put them.
Public rooms fine, breakfast quite good, toaster a bit daunting. Service always friendly, helpful and with a smile.

Good bits: great location, impressive exterior, sumptuous communal rooms, excellent breakfast.
Bad bits: horrible poky little room, too hot, limescale in the bathroom, constant noise, awful view, couldn't sleep due to noise/ventilation system, car park far too small, massively over-priced.
“ Top Tip: Avoid the area around the hotel late Saturday night, it's full of drunks.

“ Thought the accomadation and service was very good, had to wait a while to be seated for breakfast but the staff member was very apologetic. The club sandwich was outstanding!! Room service was swift but the sandwich was not quite as described but still very edible. Overall a very good stay.

Situated in the heart of this beautiful city this elegant grade II listed building offers both elegance and ease of access to all the city has to offer. Enjoy a warm atmosphere and a friendly welcome for that home from home feeling.
