We spent a great weekend in this hotel which is excellent in many ways,ie position, ambience, room size, cleanliness, and general overall facilities. The only negative would be that housekeeping seemed to lack attention to detail. We only had 2 coathangers in our wardrobes, the in room safe wasn't working and wasn't repaired during our visit, even though we reported it on the first day, and a wardrobe door hinge was broken when we arrived - this was subsequently repaired.
The food was very good although we did have a problem with an undercooked poached egg at breakfast one morning but this was promptly replaced by the very attentive restaurant staff.
“ Top Tip: Perfectly positioned in central Canterbury for all shops, pubs, and restaurants, and of course the cathedral which is only a 2 minute walk away.

Top Tip:
We were expecting a boutique style hotel, sadly the bedrooms let the hotel down. More like premier inn style decor. The breakfast staff dont seem to know what they are doing, and do not seem to be confident in their actions. I asked for a veggie cooked breakfast, so no sausage or bacon but extra mushrooms and baked beans please-no- one button mushroom, desert spoon of beans, one egg and half a tomato,-child size portions at £13 -very poor value. The waitress who took our order did not have a very good command of English, so I think this is where the problem arose. The second day was better but had to ask for beans. We were bought toast well before our cooked breakfast so it was cold when we wanted to eat it. A waiter then came and put two breakfast down on an empty table, these were then correctly placed. The plates were cold and the breakfast lukewarm & fried eggs hard. Nice to have ham and cheese choice.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Would be nice to have paper and magazines around but could find nothing, even in the upstairs lounge room. Very clean, good position but I wouldn't stay again unless the prices are greatly reduced.
