A 500 year old coaching house located in the heart of Colchester England's oldest recorded town. The hotel reflects the style and elegance of the bygone era and has a distinctive brasserie and spacious lounge. Excellent communication links (London 50 mins). Voice mail in all bedrooms air-conditioning in 75% of bedrooms. Please note the hotel does not have a lift or any rooms on the ground floor.
“ Lovely old hotel in the centre of Colchester. Love the beams, staircases and creaky floors. Helpful staff in getting the air con on to make the room less hot, and friendly barman. Tea mugs could do with being china, as they were a bit chunky, and body lotion is always nice to have in the bathroom.

A delightful and charming 14th Century period building. Restored lovingly over the years to a modern day hotel. 39 luxurious en-suite bedrooms tastefully decorated with the greatest comfort in mind. Choose from either our character oak beamed bedrooms or from the contemporary modern wing. The Oak Room restaurant is full of ambience. Serving fresh great tasting well presented food at reasonable prices and a wine list that is varied and great value. The Tudor Bar is the oldest part of the building and is simply unique. Oak beamed walls and a glorious log fire in the centre creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. Serving Traditional fayre with a modern twist. Within walking distance of Colchester Town Centre and the historic sights of Long Melford and Constable Country. Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and free car parking on site. Events held in the hotel throughout the year Tribute nights with acts Cher Madonna Kylie and Robbie Williams. Close to Colchester Zoo with packages available.

The Red Lion Hotel was built in 1465 and is in the centre of Colchester Britain's oldest recorded town. The historical building has original Tudor features including wooden beams.The Red Lion Hotel is one of the oldest inns in the area. The individually decorated en suite rooms mix traditional charm with modern comforts including TVs radios trouser presses and teacoffee.The Red Lion's old banqueting hall is now the Parliament Restaurant. The restaurant offers classic dishes and still has the original wood-beamed ceiling. There is also a bar and 24-hour room service is available.The hotel is a short walk from the shops and Colchester Town Rail Station is 500 metres away.Parking is available at an additional cost in the public car park 700 metres away.The Hotel is part of Brook Hotels.
