“ The Hotel was excellent, food in the restaurant was especially good. The staff where all friendly and ready to help. Just a shame we had a very noisy couple in the next room who talked into the early hours, very loudly.

“ Beautiful old building set in its own grounds. Our room was in the old part of the building. Very nice room but 4 flights of stairs to it and no lift! Speaking to other guests, they were in the newer part and said their rooms were good and did have a lift to them. Unfortunately, there was a burst water main in the local village and our room was without water on New Year's Eve.
“ Top Tip: We would recommend the Bay Horse pub in Heighington and the Countryman in Bolam for good quality pub grub.

“ Very nice hotel with adjoining helath club. Can be a bit noisy when functions are on. If you are worried about this ask for a room away from the fuction room. Food is nice but a bit pricey. Maybe best to eat out.
