Balmoral Hotel

“ Top Tip: Enjoyed a lovely meal at Kyloe above the Rutland on Princes St, also can recommend cocktails and a fab meal at Gusto on George St.

“ My boyfriend and I booked a night at the Balmoral for a treat despite living in Edinburgh and it did not disappoint! Check-in was easy and the staff were extremely helpful and informative. Our room was lovely, small but perfect and the bathroom was stunning with a rainfall shower and massive bath that even my 6"4 other half could comfortably fit in. We had plently of towels (warmed on the heated towel rail) and had use of the fabulous REN products. When we were out for our evening meal, the housekeeping staff provided a great downturn service and we were not disturbed at all throughout our stay. We did not have breakfast at the hotel or sample the spa facilities but both were offered when we checked-in, including use of the spa the following day after check-out. All in all a brilliant stay at this 5* hotel, will be back for a yearly treat from now on.

“ Top Tip: We went to The Dome for a late evening meal and it was delicious. Booking is a must for definate seating. The Balmoral Bar within The Balmoral is fantastic for Cocktails and not to badly priced either with prices ranging from £6 (for a Mocktail) to £11-£12 for alcoholic cocktails.

“ I have just returned from a weekend stay at the Balmoral and am truly impressed by the hotel. From the minute you arrive the standard of service from all staff is exceptional. Quite how certain members of staff remembered our names when the hotel was so busy was beyond me.

This is very much a traditional hotel and is reflected in the rooms that are styled as such. The only minor disappointment was the lack of tea & coffee making facilities, perhaps I missed where they were.

We were on a bed and breakfast basis, again a slight criticism that the tables at breakfast I felt were a little close together and I had to 'shimmy' past the table next to me to get in and out. I am reasonably slim, others' may have struggled or perhaps that is assessed when you are offered a table lol !! That does not detract from what was a superb choice of breakfast items with pretty much anything not displayed being available on request. We ordered omelettes and they were beautifully made and served promptly to our table.

In summary, The Balmoral is an outstanding hotel with fantastic staff who cannot do enough for the guests. We will, without a doubt visit this great hotel again.
