Built in 1923 as a grand Bank the building was extensively renovated with many original features restored in 1998 to create The Bank Hotel in Edinburgh City Centre and which was refurbished in February 2008. The Bank Hotel in Edinburgh city centre comprises 9 en-suite bedrooms of a 3 star accommodation standard each one individually designed to reflect the work and lives of a famous Scots including James Young Simpson James Watt Alexander Graham Bell and Charles Rennie Macintosh. Arranged over the three floors and accessed via the original staircase from the hotel bar all rooms benefit from LCD panel TV's safes hairdryers direct-dial telephones Tea and Coffee making facilities and added comforts such as CD players bathrobes and limited room service. In the morning a full Scottish and continental style breakfast selection is served by our helpful staff in the mezzanine level of the Bank Bar with views onto The Royal Mile. The Bank Bar timeless in design with glorious wood panelling and a cool relaxed atmosphere offers a wide range of drinks and an extensive daily food menu. Popular with locals and tourists and having an outdoor seating area on The Royal Mile The Bank Bar ensures that you absorb the buzz of this historical city and you won't want to leave! With such an excellent location transport is not necessary however Waverley Train Station is only two minutes walk away and Edinburgh Airport can be accessed via the Airlink bus service which runs every 10 minutes from the airport to the city centre.

“ Walking through the bar to reception on arrival was a little off putting as some of the punters looked a bit worse for wear. Three flights of stairs to the room was not great, neither was the dust in the room especially on the bed headboards. Shower wash and shampoo empty. Window was broken and would not shut so quite noisy at night. Good location, breakfast and excellent guitarist as the evening entertainer.
“ Top Tip: Worlds End Pub close by serve a good haggis,neeps and tatties.

“ It must be the only hotel that reception is part of the bar, no privacy whatsoever.We are 2 old age pensioners and we had to take our suitcases up to the 3rd floor, which was 6 flights of stairs as they did not have a lift.Some of the staff were very friendly others were not. I most certainly would not have booked this hotel if I had been aware of these circumstances. Overall very disappointed but thats life. We are not people that like to moan or complain without very good reason.
“ Top Tip: Two fabulous Restraunts/ Bars. The filling station and in particular The Mitre very accomodating staff, excellent Food and drink.

Maximum two children aged under 16 sharing one room with adults are entitled to free breakfast when minimum of one adult is paying for full breakfast.Parking is limited to 15 spaces and is chargeable at £15.00 per exit please note that spaces cannot be reserved.
“ Disappointed with our stay at the Novotel Edinburgh. Totally unaware that it was the Official English Rugby Union Supporters Hotel for the weekend rugby match. This should have been advised to non English rugby supporters when booking. Also, the hotel room was perishingly cold which resulted in a very unpleasant stay.

“ I felt that this hotel was fairly average considering the price. The location is great but the staff weren't particularly friendly or helpful. Room was quite small and the breakfast was sub standard in my opinion.
