“ The Marriot Dalmahoy Hotel in Edinburgh is a beautifully presented hotel set in magnificent grounds set well back off the road so there is no traffic noise. The staff are friendly, courteous and attentive and any requests are quickly attended to. The breakfast provides a huge selection of cooked and continental choices and the meal we had in The Pentland restaurant was very enjoyable with excellent service provided by personable and attentive staff. The rooms are spacious and very clean with good quality furniture. The only complaint I would have is that the beds were slightly uneven and the walls are thin enough to hear the occupants of the adjoining room talking and all the bathroom noise from surrounding rooms. The hotel is on the outskirts of Edinburgh and there are no restaurants or pubs nearby that I was aware of so the use of a car is probably essential if you want to eat outside the hotel. Overall a very comfortable and pleasant stay.
“ Top Tip: We had a meal in The Mackenzie Restaurant in Colinton which is about a fifteen minute drive from the hotel and doesn't necessitate going into the centre of Edinburgh. The meal was very reasonably priced and the food delicious- especially the desserts! Well worth a visit.
