“ Reception efficient and friendly. Room was adequate and comfortable with a view over Princes Street and the castle, which was good to have, but furniture was dark and in need of modernisation giving the room a gloomy atmosphere. Breakfast was a highlight and not to be missed. Overall a reasonable base for a short City Break.
“ Top Tip: If you're a shopaholic then the top stores are on your doorstep.

“ The Mercure Hotel was in a great location minutes away from George street, and the Royal mile and the castle was a 5 minutes walk away. For the price the rooms were of a good standard, overall very pleased and i would recommend this hotel for all age groups.Thank you.
“ Top Tip: There is bags of bars and pubs on George street which is parallel to princess street were are hotel was located.

Have used this hotel, under previous management, in previous years. Generally, hotel now needs refurbishment and cleaning throughout. Adequate towels etc not up to usual standard. Staff (mostly of foreign nationalities ) are always courteous, helpful, discrete.
Hotel continues to be reasonably priced (for me) and remains convenient to those venues which I need to viksit on business up to four/five times annually. Food in restaurant is OK (for the prices charges). Normally I would not use the restaurant for dinner, but I did on my last visit (March 2).
