Excellent service - staff very friendly and helpful.
Rooms good (we were given an upgrade to a fantastic suite).
Breakfast service good with wide choice of options. The hotel is in a perfect position in the city and close walking distance of restaurants and shops.

Loved the hotel. We took parents with us and did swap rooms as theirs originally had a couple of steps up to the bathroom and was quite small which was tricky for them. The room was quite small with a sloping ceiling, but it was clean and comfortable with a large bed. The bathroom was spotless which is always a giveaway.
Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a relaxed affair and was very good. Buffet for cereals, fruit, cheese, cakes, yoghurt, juice etc and orders for cooked breakfast were taken and came quite quickly. Extra toast, coffee and tea was never a problem.
Would definitely recommend this hotel as it was near to shops, bars and attractions.

Booked this hotel a week before our stay on Easter Monday. Stayed with a friend and wanted to be close to restaurants and bars. The hotel hadn't received our booking but it was quickly rectified with a call and they faxed the hotel immediately. The hotlel provided us with two drinks vouchers so we could have a glass of wine whilst we waited for everything to get sorted out. The spa was booked up so we were unable to get an appointment...so if you want a treatment best phone in advance before booking this hotel.
We were given a twin room (477) and I was disappointed to find peeling paintwork on the wall and a large damp patch in one corner of the ceiling and wall. The reception staff kindly moved us to room 275 which was fine but rather basic. There was some mould behind the taps in the bath and some general maintenance required - overall it didn't warrant a further complaint but I did mention it when I was checking out. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I wouldn't say this hotel was anything special....it is excellent as a base for Edinburgh city centre though. I'm sure with a little TLC the hotel could have a much more vibrant feel. Probably wouldn't stay here again unless I heard it had been decorated.
