Very Good

“ Found this hotel to be very welocoming and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice indeed using the best scottish produce, First time I've had to give up on a cooked breakfast in a hotel because of the serving size. Staff were very pleasant and professional. We liked the privacy hatches in room for room service etc that prevented the guests being disturbed. Can highly recommend this hotel for a treat.
“ Top Tip: there were a couple of good local pubs that are worth a visit. deacon Brodies on the Royal Mile and Dirty Dicks on Rose street were both full of atmoshere. The Beehive in Grassmarket provided good pub grub at a reasonable price and has its own comedy club at weekends.

Great location, but disappointing really for a 5 star. The windows were draughty and rattled all night. Our room overlooked a ginnel frequented by drunks throughout the night, so what with the windows and the raucous shouting we hardly had any sleep all night.
We paid for a de luxe room and it was well equipped with a nice high ceiling. However, the odd shape meant there was only room for a double bed amd hardly room to open the wardrobe door.
The dining room is a beautiful room, and the cooked breakfast was really excellent. However, the tables did not have table cloths but instead had raffia type mats which were deeply ingrained with spillages and stains. Very offputting.
We will not be staying again and couldn't recommend it at the price we paid.
“ Top Tip: The hotel can be accessed via Market st immediately opposite the Waverley station steps.

“ We had a big disappointment upon arrival as the superior Editor Room that we had paid for was not available; we were given a deluxe room (we reckon these were about £60 cheaper). The hotel representative was very apologetic and offered a bottle of wine as a consolation and the best of the deluxe rooms. We accepted this but, upon reflection, we should not. However, the hotel spa and great breakfasts and friendliness and efficiency of the staff all contributed to us having a super break.
“ Top Tip: The Witchery at the Castle restaurant was superb.

We were very disappointed to find our room was surrounded by scaffolding. I believe we were given a good room but one in a poor position because we booked through Travel Republic. It was obvious that the small portion of the hotel under refurbishment included our room.
We felt that we were second class citizens because we booked through Travel Republic and not direct ith the hotel.
In August last year we booked the Hotel du Vin in Cambridge with you. The room was perfect and we were looking forward to a similar experience.
“ Top Tip: Yes take the 22 bus from outside Burger King on High street direct to the Brittania experince at Leith. Save yourself pounds over a tour bus taking roughly the same route.

“ I felt that this hotel was fairly average considering the price. The location is great but the staff weren't particularly friendly or helpful. Room was quite small and the breakfast was sub standard in my opinion.
