Stylish modern hotel set in the heart of the historic city of Exeter close to the cathedral. Ideal for exploring Exeter Dartmoor or the South Devon Coast. Excellent facilities for both business and leisure guests including families. The Southgate - close to the cathedral succeeds in blending the old and the new in a modern building designed in the Georgian style and built onto the remaining walls of a listed building. After a long day exploring where better to relax than in the hotel pool gym or sauna. The Georgian styled Southgate hotel blends harmoniously with the historic character and charm of Exeter city centre. The hotel has 154 en-suite bedrooms each with hairdryer trouser press and satellite television. The rooms include suites and executive rooms and the hotel also has facilities for the disabled. Cloisters' restaurant features a wide range of modern and traditional dishes in an elegant yet relaxed setting. The lounge bar is open all day for a drink or a light meal. Parking charges will increase to £10 per car per day from 1st April Hotel will be undergoing some bedroom refurbishment from 4th April until the end of May whilst there is no expected disruption to our guests there maybe some restricted access to some areas of the hotel during the day. No hotel facilities are affected during this time.

I was initially disappointed to find I had no bidet and mini-bar as specified when I made my internet booking.
The dining room staff were exceptionally friendly
The leisure facilities and pool were great and the staff there also very helpful and friendly
I have already recommended the hotel to friends and family and would stay here again but the website for the hotel really needs updating.

Top Tip:
Dawlish Warren is a short journey away - one of my favourite beaches. Easily accessible by car or bus.
The real Cornish Pasty shop sells the best pasties in Exeter.

The hotel was fine and breakfast good. However it was very busy as there was a wedding taking plalce.
We looked forward to using the pool facilities but the juczzi was not working as it should and was just like sitting in a hot bath, no jet streams working!
The room was of a good standard and the location of the hotel was excellent.
All in all an enjoyable stay but disappointed with the price of the drinks at the hotel bar.
