Poor

The bathroom had a broken bath panel that my 8 year old daughter cut her foot on. the bathroom had a couple of big holes on the floor one beside the toilet and one beside toilet. the room was in need of a good clean the edges of the carpet was very dusty. the bed sheets had seen better days there was holes in all of them. two of the towels were dirty. there was only two cups even though there was six of us. it was a six bedded room but the put me up double bed had no padding on it and the two sleeping on it were unable to sleep as all they felt was the wooden slats.

Top Tip: a very good chinese buffet

The exterior gives the wrong impression of the interior! Looks nice and oldy worldy on the outside but the interior is in need of a make over. The room was quite poor really, beds uncomfortable (they were actually sloping!) the sheets were tired as were the pillows, the bathroom just adequate, a shower but no shower curtain, basically it all felt very tired and out of date! The room had some lovely period features however they were all painted over or covered up, the fire place was boarded over etc etc. Was a shame as it could have been a nice place (and probably was about 40 years ago!).
Breakfast was good though, and the staff were friendly. Was ideal for the channel tunnel as its just down the road but would we stay there again, I very much doubt it.

Stayed here as a wraparound to our holiday in France. Two adults and three teenagers comfortably fitted into the family room. The room was clean and the sheets and towels pristine. Breakfast was plentiful, good quality and served promptly by cheerful, friendly staff. Reception, dining room and cleaning staff we encountered were all friendly and appeared happy in their jobs (how many of us can say that). Only downside was the decor which could do with updating, a small matter when the rest of the stay was so welcoming. I would stay again willingly.

Top Tip: Lovely Chinese restaurant, directly opposite Harvey's Bar let down by overpriced soft drinks and unexpected service charge, £87+ for single course meal for 5, 2 ice cream desserts, 4 cokes and a blackcurrant juice.
Italian restaurant Don Giovanni reasonably priced, good food and warm welcome- recommended.
