No longer called The Merchant Lodge - now The Merchant City Inn. I have stayed there before in the past before it changed hands. It is very central and convenient. Bedroom very comfortable although the TV wasn't working - when reported, it was changed while I was out of the hotel. Shower room clean but taps needed some attention - I couldn't report this as the receptionist was not available when I left in the morning. Breakfast was fine and the staff very friendly.
The great advantage is the situation of the hotel and I would certainly stay there again.
“ Top Tip: The Merchant City is a very historic part of Glasgow and well worth exploring, also close to the Italian Centre (great restaurants and shopping) and George Square - wonderful City Chambers open with guided tours. Glasgow is just a wonderful place - the second city of Empire with fabulous wealth and Victorian buildiings.

“ Not the best hotel iv stayed in...good location,nice breakfast in the morning but room was very old fashioned.. The shower in my room was old the walls had cracks at the bottom and when I was going for a shower the shower wouldn't work.. There was a catch that you pull for whether u want the water coming out from the shower or the bath and it was broken.. Went down to reception n the guy at the desk came up to my room n told me it was broken??? Got it working a little bit then left... I had my shower but when my boyfriend went for his there was no hot water ..was going to phone down to reception to let them know because we both had towels round us but the Phone was broken too so got changed went down told him .. He said its probably coz everyone in hotel using the water and I would have to wait half and hour or so... He really didn't seem that bothered n our dinner was booked so my bf went without a shower .. To pay for a nice hotel u would expect hot water for a shower... Won't be back

“ The hotel is called the Merchant Lodge Inn Hotel. It's a hidden gem within a short walk to the city centre and many shops, pubs and restaurants. There is a 24hr reception and the buffet style breakfast is freshly cooked. Rooms are all en-suite and tea and coffee facilities as well as Freeview T.V. in the room.
