Barony Castle is a beautiful mansion house built in 1536. Set in 25 acres it offers a quiet and peaceful location. Ideally situated on the outskirts of the Scottish Borders only 40 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh for city culture and shopping and only 5 minutes from the beautiful Borders town of Peebles. “ Hotel was very clean both in the public areas and in the room including the ensuite. The evening meal and breakfast were both excellent. Staff were helpful and attentive. Would stay again and recommend without hesitation on the strength of our overnight stay.

“ Friendly staff food was fantastic especially the lamb (don't be confused by the menu it's not a shepherds pie it's superb lamb loin AND a miniature pie). Only niggle was we were given a road side room and it's a commuter route at 6:00 am.

Privately owned and operated the hotel is situated right in the heart of the beautiful central Borders town of Melrose. It is a large Victorian-style building extended from the original 17th century coaching inn and offers a warm and friendly atmosphere to all of it's customers. There are 29 rooms making it the largest hotel in the town centre as well as a bar and dinning area known as Scott's. The bar offers up to 4 real ales from local craft brewers and Scottish regional breweries and the dinning area uses fresh local and regional produce for the menus which are served all day from mid-day. Friendly service from all the staff complement the clean and comfortable environment of the hotel giving you a great central base for exploring all of the delights of the Scottish Borders region whilst only being 1 hours drive from the centre of Edinburgh.
“ very good indeed, not 5 stars, 10 STARS.If we ever need to go back to melrose this hotel will be topof the list. The only thing missing for us personally there was o lift, but the owner wanted to carry our bags/cases, but a small detail that is all. The food also was excellent.
