The Columba Hotel originally built in 1881 is positioned in the heart of Inverness with enviable views over the River Ness and up to Inverness Castle. For a more casual meal then choose Macnab's Bar Bistro which serves a tempting selection of local fare and specialist real ales from the Black Isle. “ We paid the extra for a river view and it was worth it, we had a lovely big room, the hotel is across the street from the river and has lovely walks, we never used the resteraunt as there are loads within walking distance, lovely hotel, freindly staff we will be back.
“ Top Tip: Pay the extra and go for a river view

Room was O.K., but mould round bath & the shower would not turn off completely! Very shabby for a 4 Star Hotel. Evening meal was very poor; one main course (lamb stew) which reminded me of school dinners! Everyone said New Year's Banquet was excellent, but no effort was made for the 1st. This also happened last year & is just not good enough, especially as due to work we could not join our friends till the first. This was 'our' New Year & food wise it was well below the standard I would expect in any Hotel, let alone a 4 Star one.
Location is good, though this year our room was at the back & had no view.
We will not be back next year; even though our complaints to the Duty Manager was 'rewarded' with a bottle of House Red, it could not compensate for the disappointment of the meal!

Hotel is nice, but not 4 star, 3 star I would say.
Have stayed here a couple of times, but this time our room was really small, noisy and window would not open. Bit old fashioned.
Give them their due, after staying for one night in our room, I asked if we could be moved, the hotel was really busy for the Scottish Golf Open, but they did move us to a much bigger and nicer room.
Breakfast was fine, staff really welcoming on entering the Restaurant.
“ Top Tip: When we visit we always go to The Mustard Seed Restaurant which is located just across the river. Excellent food. You normally have to book for a table.
