On arrival our reception was a little frosty to say the least and we had words about how much the breakfast was. On the hotels website it said £5 but she would not honour that and said it was £8. She insiste I had booked with Late Rooms and I said I hadnt so she was put on the wrong foot to start with.
We were sent to a room by the front door , right on the road front, with a double bed and a set of bunk beds with no pillows . I commented that if this was the executive then I would hate to see the regular roomes! The room was large but really odl fashioned. Bathroom was ok. Tried to find the wardrobe to hang our clothes but there was not one. Then we found a rail in the bathroom! We were looking around and then there was a knock on the door. The reception must have been listening at the door because she said she just realised we had booked an executive room and we could move.
We were led out the back to what used to be the old stables. Initially the room looked lovely and they had put in a psare bed for my daughter.
But the room smelt really damp due to the gardens at the back. All the metal in the bathroom was rusty because of the damp and it smelt. The wardrobe , against that wall almost smelt and made our clothes smell.
The gardens were lovely and the room was very quiet.
The restaurant was nice except needs some upgrading on the carpeet or replace with wooden floors. Lots of stains.
The service was appalling. The same guy in the bar served our meals. We didnt mind waiting but he was miserable and like something out of FALWTY TOWERS.
The food, delicious but well overpriced. We dont mind paying over the odds if the service is there with a smile.
On check out they charged for the extra bed per night which we feel is not right because we clearly booked 2 adults and 1 child on travel republic site.
Overall a 2 star hotel really. They need to sort out the damp and their staff!

Top Tip: Town of Wye is absolutely beautiful
Nice pub with lovely little brook and great food.
Lots of heritage in the town too and great walks.

We were very pleased with the hotel, we had a friendly welcome & our room was large & clean with everything we needed.
We had a meal in the restuarant which was lovely.
We did not stay for breakfast as we had to leave early & it started at 8am, but we didnt mind.
Overall it was a very enjoyable stay & the staff were very friendly & helpful.
We would definately come back, if we were in the area.
