Devonshire House Hotel

“ Had a single room that was adequate but could do with re decoration. Bar and Restaurant good. Plenty of parking spaces and a petrol garage just outside the hotel which sells the things not found in the hotel!! Quiet location and about 10=15 minutes from the city centre. I would stay here again.

“ Picture looked amazing on arriving at the hotel it appeared that the picture had been taken some time previously as hotel needed a lick of paint and a refurb inside. Some of the staff were extremly plesant and helpful whilst others just rude.

“ Very dated decor. The entrance looked nice but not very professional looking reception desk as empty boxes and unused items were clearly visible. Plenty of hot water and breakfast plentyful but dining room freezing! Reception ares cold but it was very cold weather during our stay and with doors opening constantly it must be difficult to keep it warm. Bedroom and hallways very old fashioned/dated and tatty looking in some parts. Our bathroom ceiling was patched up and had paint peeling off in great chunks. Bedroom furniture outdated. Room quite large. No window blind in bathroom and bath/shower beneath it so presumably not private when dark outside and lights on inside! We had requested a cot as were travelling with an infant and presumed one would be provided. We did not check in until about 7pm and then discovered no cot. reception told us they do not have any in the hotel and have not provided them for several years due to health and safety reasons. If we had booked direct with the hotel they tell us we would have been informed of this. Due to the lateness of the hour we had no choice but to stay and had to take the matress of the single bed and let our little one sleep there. Needless to say neither of us got any sleep due to concern over her rolling off in the night. A highchair had to be brought from another building at breakfast as none provided, and as it was raining the highchair was wet despite the member of staff saying she had dried it.

“ Top Tip: We spent the day in Liverpool city centre which has loads of great places to eat and shopping is excellent.

“ The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was very nice.
