Norfolk House Hotel

“ No welcome when we arrived and lots of noisy renovations and other work was in progress.No assistance was offered with our luggage [we are an elderly couple ].We were given a room number and very sketchy directions as to how to find it .Eventually we did after several corridors and several small flights of stairs , only to find we needed a card key to get into our room which reception had forgotten to give us !I went back and requested a room nearer to the dining room and reception which we were given .It was a recently renovated room and l have to say poorly done .The new bed headboard had jaggedly cut sides and a lump of glue on the top .The small built in sofa was already falling apart and the tap in the bathroom was very difficult to use .Breakfast [continental we were told ] consisted of cheap white sliced bread and jam ,tea and coffee.Some people had been waiting 20 minutes for cups which were in short supply .We were glad that we only had to stay the one night and would not stay again .The hotel need to get its act together !

“ walls in the room dirty, under the bed found an empty bottle of sprite, in the morning the noises started at 6,30 am and every 5 minutes there was a loud banging. The receptionists one Bulgarian and one Indian seemed they don't know what they were really doing(poor customer service and poor English too). The cleaner was also a waitress and the covers of the table and chairs where we had breakfast was absolutely filthy.

Shower too heavy so sprayed all around the room and down the walls, so you cant use it. You have to have a bath only.
Bath fills up quickly - great
Water drains away very slowly - I think its actually blocked.
The room was set up for a single person not a couple so I had to request: towels cup and glass. Was given only one towel so asked later at desk again for more - which were supplied. There is no mirror to look in when you are blow drying your hair. A very dark room. The bathroom light was faulty which we reported when we left.
Generally a bit tatty and a throw back to the '70's.
We requested non smoking - dont bother its a non smoking hotel! The room was very stuffy. Unfortunately, outside this room is where the smokers hang out. Therefore you cant open the window otherwise they charge you £100 for it smelling of smoke!
I booked this believing this site to charge £35 for the night - great, then they take a £1 deposit from the internet, then you get to the hotel they charge you £38. I queried this with the management and they wouldnt budge. So where it says £35 you will be paying £39 min. No remote for the tv. Breakfast was ok.
I typed in a postcode to be near and this hotel popped up but the distance was a long way out from reality. TR should check the info and how it is presented.
