“ The staff were very friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. The room was clean but very small. The sheets were fresh and clean, but the bedspread although clean was old and tatty and had a rip in it. The room was very warm we had to sleep with the window open so we were disturbed throughout the night from the traffic and noises from the street. The ensuite was very small but clean, the towels were clean but faded. The only sign of room service was two clean cups for our coffee and two more clean towels, the used towels were not taken away, and the refreshment basket was not replenished. I had tidied the bed before we left the room but not remade it, obviously room service assumed that I had as the bed was not remade. I had to remake it when we got back to our room late and very tired from our day in London, not something you want to do when you've come away for a break. The lift was very slow and small but useable. We used the stairs a lot. The hotel is within walkable distance to all the main attractions of London and if you don't want to walk the tube station is just around the corner. This hotel is fine for a one night stay, two at the very most.
“ Top Tip: The Lite Bite in London Street is a fab place for a very tasty and reasonably priced breakfast, and the pub next to it has a lovely atmosphere and food. If you like Greek food try The Kolossi Restaurant also in London Street.

The staff were very nice and friendly. We booked a family room for 3 people, but it was disappointing. A small double and single bed were squeezed into a small room. There was only 1 bed side table next to the single bed. We had to climb around the room to get passed eachother. The kettle had to be put on the floor to be boiled, as the cord could only reach a socket under the table.
However the room was very clean and so was the bathroom. There was plenty of hot water. The bed sheets were nice and white.
Maybe the single or double rooms would be ok!
“ Top Tip: Lots of cafes and pubs nearby. And Hyde Park is walking distance!

Dear Sirs
After reading quite a lot of negative remarks about this hotel on various booking sites, not least concerning size of rooms, etc, my fears were totally dispelled from the moment I walked through the door.
The reception was immaculate and gleaming and the staff could not have been more welcoming.
The room we were allocated was on the first floor and was perfect for my daughter (aged 10) and me. It boasted beautiful drapes and smart limed oak furniture. The bed was covered with a very pretty bedspread. Two extra pillows were in the wardrobe with extra bedding if required. The ensuite shower room was immaculately clean with crisp white towels and shower gel etc included.
For those who complain about the size of the rooms, their response is illogical. Such people should remember that the hotels in Sussex Gardens are in fact HISTORIC listed buildings and were built as homes and not as hotels. Rooms such as the one we had would not have had en-suite facilities when built and so would have had to have been added in at some stage which would of course impact on the overall room space. Such private hotels should not be compared to large multi-national modern purpose built hotels which are often extremely impersonal and hugely overpriced. If that is what people want then they are in the wrong place.
Our rate did not include breakfast but we paid just £10.00 extra for both of us for a full English breakfast (any combination of the usual items if like me you are vegetarian and do not want the bacon/sausages) plus coffee/tea/toast, etc. Breakfast was served promptly and the staff were polite.
This was the third and final hotel in the area we had stayed in during the week and overall the best. I was only sorry I was not there long enough (just one night) to have a drink at the bar. I would certainly recommend it for anyone who wants just a place to sleep for a short stay in London.
My only whinge was the group of young girls smoking at the entrance (so hitting us as we walked out) rather than away from the building but the receptionist took this on board and asked them to move away.
As far as the staff at Travel Republic is concerned they were very helpful when I had to ring due to the fact that my confirmation e-mail had not arrived by the time I left my house to travel to London. Thank you.

Top Tip:
We chose this location for all three hotels stayed at in the week as it was close to the drama school where my daughter was attending a course and also because it was a two minute walk from the hotel to Paddington station (the hotel was more than happy for us to leave our luggage all day once we had checked out).
There are lots of cafes/restaurants in the area. There is just a three minute walk to Edware Road with its variety of international shops, bars and restaurants and a five minute walk to Hyde Park (north), Marble Arch and Oxford Street. The Windsor Castle Pub just five minute walk away in a road off the Edgward Road is a must for the tourist with its eclectic collection of royal and theatrical emphemera, friendly landlord and excellent food.
