“ We only stayed one night, but the room was fine. Water was not very hot early evening when we needed to bathe before going to a function. Staff were friendly and helpful; breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, on returning after midnight, we found ourselves locked out! This was partly our own fault as we did not read the notice requesting that we leave our room keys at reception.

“ A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Our only - minor - gripe is that our room was on the ground floor, with cars parked in touching distance outside the window. With such magnificent views from the floors above, it was a bit disappointing to have a close-up view of a VW Polo! The room itself was excellent, couldn't fault it.

“ Classic double room was very disappointing. Dated furnishings and only a double bed for two people when most hotels have king-size beds. Also, had a lot of cobwebs and a very tatty shower room. Good towels though. Apart from that the service was excellent and food at dinner and breakfast was good.
