Loved the location.Enjoyed my stay.
Perhaps it might be good to tell people how far they may need to carry their cases, and amount of stairs that are involved.

Although armed with the pre booked voucher hotel reception had no room allocated for us, we were sat down in the lounge whilst a room was found , we were told that because of the mix up we had been upgraded to a room inside the main building instead of the outdoor lodges.
The only up about this room was the flights of stairs it took to reach it, basically an attic room with no room to swing a cat! The wasn't room for a bedside table on both sides of the bed because this would have obstructed the bath 'room' door!
The food in the bar was excellent with good service from the bar staff. Whilst there I bumped into a friend with his family with exactly the same booking in experience as ourselves, in their case getting one room for three instead of the reserved suite.
On the second night a wedding disco took place immediately below our room, not just excruciatingly loud but vibrating the room as well, this went on until 1am and on phoning down whilst this was happening we were told that we would have been informed of this upon arrival, definitely not true!
As the disco took place below us with smokers outside below our window, which we had open because the heating could not be turned off and the was no a/c, the chances of rest were impossible until well after 1am.
The £25 reaction given as a result of this was no consolation to the lack of sleep and subsequent headaches all next day.

Top Tip: Park and ride trip to Oxford nearby, good printed directions from hotel reception.

Check-in date:

The hotel offers superb value for money. The Hall is stately and magnificent, as are the grounds. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was substantial and delicious. The out of hall room (the lodge) although small, was comfortable, spotlessly clean and only a few yards walk from the main hall. The leisure complex was well equipped and clean. The pool water, despite the winter freeze, was pleasantly warm. This was indeed a most pleasant two night stay.

Unfortunately the room was full of flies due to hot weather which were partially dealt with the same day we arrived and the following day. I feel the room should have been checked prior to our arrival. The staff were lovely and the public rooms were spectacular- however I did feel we were housed in the servants quarters!!
