Some signs of former glory remain and there is much tangible evidence that Barcelo are hauling the hotel in to the 21Century! The car parking arrangements still leave a deal to be desired.

We were thrilled to be upgraded to an enormous room (when we found it!) with sea view but less impressed with the absence of a quality thermostatic shower and minibar.

Dinner was hugely disappointing, despite the very pleasant ambience, (parsimonious fillet of Sea Bass and over-reduced, salty, red wine jus with the Pork) and fell substantially short of the expectation generated by the published Table d'hote menu prices. Breakfast, however, was a total triumph - the best we have experienced in years and the restaurant staff delightful.

Would return on a B&B basis.

We booked for a standard Double Room and were delighted when we were upgraded (without even requesting it) to a Premium Double. Enormous room, enormous bed and the most amazing view of the bay through patio doors onto a balcony, complete with loungers. The room was very clean and quiet. All of the staff were polite and efficient, parking available - £7 for the overnight stay in a secure car park, and the breakfast was plentiful and varied. Altogether a very pleasant experience.

Top Tip: We found a family run Italian restaurant called Blanco's up one of the side streets off the marina which was a lovely venue.
